ChannelAdvisor helps UK retailers Checkout with Google
ChannelAdvisor users among the first UK retailers to benefit from Google’s new way to pay online

London, 13th April 2007 – E-commerce and search marketing technology provider, ChannelAdvisor today announced its full product support for Google Checkout, the new online payments platform available in the UK for the first time today. Already a huge success in the US, Google Checkout has proved popular by providing a simple, secure and fast way to buy goods online. From today, all ChannelAdvisor users will be able to offer Google Checkout as a payment option to their customers.

James Scott, Director Marketplaces & eCommerce, at ChannelAdvisor UK says, “One of the biggest issues faced by online retailers is checkout abandonment, although almost 40% of all online purchases begin with a search engine request, around two thirds of shopping baskets are abandoned before the sale is completed. With Google Checkout, retailers can now use Google services to both attract and convert buyers, reducing levels of abandonment, as well as saving significant amounts of money on payment processing costs.”

Abandonment plagues online retailers by driving up click-through costs and reducing margins. For retailers and consumers Google Checkout provides a much simpler buying process. Once a Google Checkout username and password has been established, this single login can be used for all stores that accept Google Checkout - one login, one shopping basket and one checkout irrespective of the number of retailers involved in the transaction.

ChannelAdvisor has already seen significant interest from its customers in offering Google Checkout. Consequently it has been working closely with Google in the US and UK to ensure it has the expertise and technology in place to allow its customers to rapidly exploit the service.

One retailer ready to go live with Google Checkout today is Luzern Technologies. Patrick Sherlock, CTO at Luzern Technology Solutions said, “We believe Google Checkout will really help us to convert more incoming leads into buyers, as well as improve visibility and click through rate on Google search as a result of the shopping cart logo on our Adwords ad. ChannelAdvisor has been an invaluable partner in helping us take advantage of this great new payment scheme.”

Notes to editor
Google Checkout will be free to use until the end of 2007, plus retailers get free fraud protection with Checkout’s fraud prevention tools to protect them from fraudulent charge backs.  For retailers keen to learn more about how to start using Google Checkout - Robert Swerling Strategic Partner Development Manager at Google will be talking about Google Checkout for the first time in the UK at ChannelAdvisor’s Catalyst event, 18th/19th April 2007 (www.channeladvisor.co.uk/catalyst/default.html ).
In addition, they can join the “Google Checkout in the UK Explained” 1hr webinar on 23rd April 2007, at 2pm, hosted by ChannelAdvisor and Google.
